Book it.

J: Just finished a massive upload to lulu.com. Its my 230 page macro study of Bangkok. Certainly if you wanted to buy it that would be GREAT. But honestly I’d be happy if you clicked on the free download and just took a look. Click here to take a look.

23 seconds of bored tourists

Quick little video I shot at the EXIT to the Golden Temple in Bangkok. Honestly the temple is so big and so “the same” everywhere that although amazing its also taxing. You can tell these folks didn’t just get off of Batman the Rollercoaster.

Thailand Photos - Nightlife

Just added a gallery containing photos of Bangkok and Pattaya after dark. Tried my best to capture the seedy side during the day and at night from a distance. Photography near the hookers is looked down on for some reason….. Anyway take a peak here.

Thailand Photos - Golden Temple & Grand Palace

Just uploaded a gallery full of pics from Bangkok’s Golden Temple and Grand Palace. Tweaked the files for color as little as I could to preserve the hazy light of morning. Here’s a link.

Soft Sell

J: Another open letter to the vendors of Thailand.

Stop jumping on my ass the second I stop in front of your booth. I know you are trying to screw me on the price and thats something I can live with. Don’t make the transaction a pain as well. This whole trip, I recall Mr. Moore as James Bond pushing that Wooden Elephant selling Thai kid out of the boat and wish I could do the same. And to the ladies with the frogs. Here’s a trick. If the woman standing in front of you selling the same frog couldn’t make a sale - what makes you think you can 10 seconds later? Also if you want to us to believe you are from a tribe in the mountains - hide your cellphone and don’t wear a shirt for “Power Diesel 150 Super Additive.” There is just so much “show” going on that you push me away. It makes me love the Chang Mai Sunday market even more.

Sukhumvit 19 at Night

Went back to the area around our old hotel The Key Bangkok. Wanted to do some karaoke. Turns out the singing was kind of a bust but we did get to browse hookertown again. Also we discovered Little Arabia which I have to say is one of the nicest parts of Bangkok I’ve seen so far. All that oil money…..

Check it out.

My Camera is “TOO BOOKOO” for the temple

J: What a drag. Two video cameras are BANNED from the Grand Palace Golden Temple. Sony FX-7 and Cannon XL-1. I was escorted to a security station by a Thai army officer. What the frack? Tons of smaller HD cameras in there. Plus dudes shooting HD footage on their still cameras. So after we left we walked the wrong way around the GIANT block that the temple is in. I love my wife. She stuck with it like a trooper. Then when we were about to give up and “cry” a little - a Thai man saw the Obama action figure sticking out of her purse. He was yelling and laughing and so were we. Thank you random Thai dude for pulling us out of the muck.

Going down the gangway

While John and I were walking down Sukhumvit Rd, checking out what was around our hotel and getting a lovely egg and bacon breakfast, we noticed some small stalls with a lot of locals hanging around. As we went to investigate we saw that there was a whole market hidden behind these stalls. I’m pretty sure we might be the only “farongs” to walk around back there. It was neat. Here’s a short video.

Please to enjoy:

Vintage Bangkok

John: Just updated the photo section with pics my Dad took while in Bangkok as a 20 year-old soldier. Talk about different life paths. Buried in there are a couple of the King as a much younger man. I hope to find some of the temples and shoot them in color from the same angle. Good luck John. Good luck.
